Hood/McKinney Scholarships awarded to two children of Littleton Coin Company employees

 

 

LITTLETON –  Adam C. Friend of Jefferson, NH and Jessica M. Higgins of Lisbon, NH are the 2007 recipients of the annual Rena Hood/Bartlett McKinney Memorial Scholarships for higher education awarded to sons or daughters of Littleton Coin Company employees.

 

 

Adam, son of Judy and Nate Friend, is a 2007 graduate of White Mountains Regional High School.  Adam will be attending Plymouth State University majoring in Childhood Studies, Teacher Certification (K-8), with a minor in history.

 

 

Jessica, daughter of Marlene and Brian Higgins, is a 2007 graduate of Lisbon Regional High School.  Jessica will be attending the Thompson School of Applied Science at University of New Hampshire majoring in Equine Business Management. 

 

 

The two annual $2,000 scholarships are given in memory of two longtime employees of Littleton Coin who made major contributions to the success of the firm from its beginning, and who were keenly interested in community service and education.  Rena Hood was instrumental in developing the mail-order company’s nationwide reputation for personal service to collectors.  Bart McKinney was general manager of the firm from 1948 to 1986, after a career in education which included serving as principal of Littleton and Whitefield High Schools.
